Assembly order

3. 3. Worm with weight in one end

Component order, not a scale drawing. Hook, bait and weight connections differ by method.

1. 1. Choose a soft worm, hook and nail weight that work together; check the complete casting weight against your outfit.
2. 2. Insert the nail weight into one end of the worm. Fit a ring if using one.
3. 3. Attach the hook near the body using the ring or bait arrangement appropriate to that hook. The weight is in the worm, not a drop-shot sinker below it.
4. 4. Let the weighted end settle while retaining enough contact to detect movement. Check the worm and weight after each retrieve.

Before you cast

• Nail weight is secure and the worm is not torn.
• The hook can take purchase without being buried in an incompatible ring or thick plastic.
• Weight and hook placement create the intended weighted-end posture.
